Last week we hosted the OpenSAFELY Community Symposium in London - and it was a fantastic success.
If you couldn’t make it on the day (sadly, Storm Bert caused enough disruption to prevent quite a few people from getting to London) then fear not! Over the next few days we’ll be uploading videos of every session to our YouTube channel, and you can catch up on everything you missed.
We gave attendees a little booklet - The past, present and future of OpenSAFELY. You can download a PDF copy.
While we get the full day’s worth of videos ready, here’s a very short summary of the event:
And here’s a small selection of photos:
Tariq Khokhar from Wellcome, announcing new funding for the Bennett Institute and mental health research
Ming Tang, Chief Data and Analytics Officer, NHS England
Our benefactor Peter Bennett with some reflections on the day
Bennett Institute friend and collaborator Liam Smeeth, Director of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine
Kamran Abbasi, editor in chief of The BMJ
Nicola Byrne, National Data Guardian, during one of the panel discussions
Researcher Stuti Bagri from the Nuffield Trust, during a panel session
Ben Goldacre holds up our OpenSAFELY booklet
Thank you to everyone who came along. To our speakers, internal and external. To the researchers who were so keen to share their work, and learn more about OpenSAFELY. To our funders and collaborators, for enabling it all. And to everyone who contributed to the organising and smooth running of the day.
Once all the day’s talks are on YouTube, we’ll put another post here so you can browse through them easily.
