Thank you, George

Posted:

A couple of weeks ago we hosted our first special guest visitor, George Davey Smith, Professor of Clinical Epidemiology, and Director of the Medical Research Council’s Integrative Epidemiology Unit at the University of Bristol.

George was a particularly delightful guest, giving not one but two public lectures in a single day, spending lots of time with some of our research team to pass on his wisdom and experience, and joining some of us for a delicious dinner in the evening.

George’s lectures – on Mendelian randomisation and evidence triangulation – were very popular and are now available to re-watch at the links below.

Presenting George with Bennett Institute Port, bottle 0001

We showed our appreciation by giving George bottle 0001 of Bennett Institute port, the start of what we hope will be a catalogue numbering system to rival that of Factory Records. That, and the fact that I referred to George above as “our first special guest”, gives the game away: we’re going to be organising more visits like these. Watch this space.

So: thanks George! That was fantastic. Come back whenever you like.
